Membership Network

  • Through IPI events and membership of your local branch, the networking opportunities to enhance your professional contacts are significant. IPI membership provides an opportunity to learn, share and collaborate with other planning professionals.

Exclusive content

  • Members have access to our exclusive members’ area on the IPI website which includes job listings, CPD presentations, Circulars and member publications. The IPI members’ area provides access to a range of resources which strengthens knowledge within the profession and helps you keep up to date with research, circulars, law and other briefings.

CPD

  • Access to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars and online CPD on key issues across the country, key planning conferences throughout the year, and to member only CPD events, social and networking events nationally and at branch level.

Discounted rates

  • IPI members are eligible for discounted rates at all IPI events. This includes discounted member rates at our conferences, CPDs and Branch events which debate current issues and showcase evolving planning policy, theory and practice.

There are special membership rates for retired, overseas, students and unwaged members.

Stay in Touch/ Up To Date

  • The IPI provides regular updates to our members in relation to Irish and EU planning. Members are updated through the IPI website, regular ezines and social media.
  • Our CPD program ensures members stay up to date with the latest policy and practice in planning. 
  • Access to free membership of your regional branch in which you reside/work. The local branch network provides support for planners at a local level with social events, lectures, seminars and CPD events throughout the year.
  • Opportunities for active involvement in directing the Institute by nominating for Council or Regional Branch Committee within the Institute, and through voting on Institute matters.

  • The Irish Planning Institute uses revenue from events and also membership subscriptions to further work to advance planning and promote the profession for the benefit of the community and the common good. IPI membership directly contributes to strengthening Planning and Planners in Ireland.

  • There is verification of professional affiliation and standing through use of designatory letters – MIPI for Corporate Members and FIPI for Fellow Members.

International Standing

  • IPI membership of the European Council of Town Planners (ECTP), the umbrella organisation for Spatial Planning Institutes in Europe, allows IPI members to avail of mutual recognition of planning qualifications in European Member States in addition to agreements with New Zealand and Australia. The IPI is also a member of the Global Planners Network (GPN).
