Home / Become a Planner / Job Opportunities / Associate Planner – DOWNEY Associate Planner – DOWNEY DOWNEY are recognised as a leading consultancy within Ireland’s planning and development industry and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner to join our dynamic planning team at Associate Planner level. The successful candidate/s will be providing planning services to a wide range of clients across Ireland. Based in our office on Merrion Square, Dublin 2 (with hybrid working), you will work closely with colleagues in other teams including Architecture and Project Management. About the roles/key responsibilities: Demonstrate extensive experience and understanding of planning and environmental legislation. Offer strategic planning advice on project direction and forward planning initiatives. Manage, liaise and negotiate with multi-disciplinary project teams, consultees, planning officers, and third parties. Prepare and manage planning applications, LRDs, feasibilities/due-diligence, tender submissions, strategic planning policy work, EIARs, RIAs, HNDAs, etc. Develop and maintain client relationships. Oversee project management, including financial/project budget management. Engage with other professional consultants, both in-house and externally, in the project management and delivery of projects. Identify new business and marketing opportunities across various sectors. Undertake research and analysis. Mentor and manage junior staff. About the candidates: Candidates who are ready to assume a greater level of responsibility and lead planning and project teams. Hold a recognised qualification in Planning with a minimum of 8 years post graduate experience. Membership of the IPI and/or RTPI and working towards chartership. Previous consultancy experience and knowledge of the Irish planning system, particularly in leading and managing large projects. Actively contribute to a portfolio of planning projects. Highly motivated and ambitious, with excellent communication skills. Proactively manage clients’ needs and expectations. Ability to work within a team and manage multiple projects as well as be a Team Leader to junior colleagues. Show commitment to continuous professional development.
