Luas Cork is a proposed 18km light rail line that will create a new public transport connection from Ballincollig to Mahon. It is a central part of the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy.

At this in person CPD event organised by the IPI Cork Branch, Sarah O’Donnell, Project Manager, Luas Cork Ireland will introduce this ambitious project following the publication of an emerging preferred route earlier this year.

The CPD will begin with sandwiches/tea/coffee at 12:30, followed by the presentation and Q&A and will conclude by 14:00.

Project Manager Luas Cork

Sarah has over twenty years’ experience in the design and delivery of public transport. As Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s Assistant Chief Architect, she has worked across all major projects – including light rail, metro, and active travel schemes – with a focus on urbanism, place-making and sustainable design.

In 2023, Sarah was appointed Project Manager for Luas Cork, leading an inter-disciplinary team in the development of high-quality, integrated, and attractive light rail for Cork City.

Sarah has also headed TII’s stakeholder engagement with User Groups and Disabled Persons Organisations, promoting Universal Design and best practice in accessible infrastructure across all divisions.

Sarah holds professional qualifications in Architecture from Kingston University and University College Dublin, as well as a master’s degree in Sustainable Development from Technological University Dublin.
