Home / Become a Planner / Job Opportunities / Research Assistant Role for Graduate Planner – Tom Phillips + Associates Research Assistant Role for Graduate Planner (1-year fixed term contract) Tom Phillips + Associates are seeking a motivated Graduate Planner to join our consultancy as a Research Assistant on a one-year fixed term contract starting January /February 2026. Working directly with the Company Chairman, located in our Dublin Office, the successful candidate will support a broad range of planning, research, and related activities. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of planning reports, briefing notes, and technical documents. Contribute to the development and publication of research papers, projects, and thought-leadership material. Support the preparation of lectures, teaching materials, and conference presentations. Conduct detailed reviews of planning data, policy documents, statistical sources, and relevant court judgements. Analyse, interpret, and present information in clear and accessible formats. Provide administrative and ad hoc support as required. The successful candidate should: Hold a recognised third-level qualification in Town/Spatial Planning, or a closely related discipline. Have strong IT skills with experience using SharePoint be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and GIS applications; willingness to learn Canva. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to research independently and interpret complex information. Show strong organisational abilities, initiative, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
