Programme Niall Handy SC – Case Law Update Alice Whittaker, Environment and Planning Partner, Philip Lee – RED III Directive, derogation licences and recent CJEU judgments Jeanie Kelly, Senior Associate, Beauchamps – Update on implementation of the Planning and Development Act 2024 Discussion and Q&A About our speakers Niall Handy SC Niall Handy is a barrister (Senior Counsel) in general practice in Ireland with expertise in the areas of planning and environmental law, administrative law, judicial review, commercial litigation, and ADR. He is a former Chairperson of the Irish Environmental Law Association, and a regular speaker at association and industry events. He also practices as a CEDR accredited Commercial Mediator. Alice Whittaker Alice leads the Environment and Climate Group at Philip Lee LLP. She is ranked “Band 1” by Chambers Europe, and “Hall of Fame” by Legal 500.Alice provides specialist advice on planning, environmental, and renewable energy plans and projects, and is an experienced judicial review lawyer. Alice focuses on housing, renewable energy, marine, and sustainable infrastructure projects. Alice has led the regulatory due diligence on significant infrastructure investments and project M&A. Jeanie Kelly Jeanie is a senior associate in the Projects, Infrastructure & Energy group in Beauchamps, specialising in Environment & Planning law. Jeanie advises a variety of public and private sector clients in respect of both contentious and non-contentious planning and environmental matters across a wide range of sectors, including renewable energy, utilities, telecoms, housing, natural resources, forestry, food and agriculture. She has experience advising clients at all stages of major infrastructure projects, including oral hearing experience and commercial litigation experience, particularly in the areas of planning and environmental judicial reviews and injunctions and climate litigation.
