Irish Planning Institute Encourages Communities to Participate in National Planning Framework Consultation Posted on February 2, 2017June 14, 2021 by Irish Planning Institute The Irish Planning Institute (IPI) has welcomed the Taoiseach and Minister Simon Coveney’s launch today of a public consultation on “Ireland 2040 – Our Plan”, the new National Planning Framework and encouraged communities and stakeholders to engage in the consultation. The Institute sits on the National Planning Framework advisory group. IPI President Deirdre Fallon said “The new National Planning Framework represents a major opportunity to prepare effective, evidence based, policy to address many of the issues which will affect the long term future development of Ireland such as climate change, our landscape, the roles of our cities, towns and villages and rural development. It should also be used to direct future funding for infrastructure. Given its importance and long term outlook we encourage all communities and stakeholders to participate in this and future consultations. The Institute is engaging with its members on our response.” Notes to Editors: The Institute outlined its priorities to the Oireachtas Planning Committee in November. The submission is available here.
