Irish Planning Institute Welcomes Local Infrastructure Fund Announcement Posted on June 14, 2016June 14, 2021 by Irish Planning Institute The Irish Planning Institute (IPI) has welcomed the Government’s announcement of a €200 million Local Infrastructure Fund. The Institute notes that it must be used to advance strategic sites identified as a priority. IPI President Deirdre Fallon said “As argued in our election manifesto the funding of infrastructure to unlock land, particularly for housing, along with development finance, are the main brakes on housing supply at present. We hope the announced fund is a step in local authorities taking a greater role in active land management allowing local authorities the powers and financing to assemble and invest in vacant or underutilised sites.”
