Assistant Town Planner 

The Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Town Planner to join our expanding team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience across a broad spectrum of planning projects while working alongside experienced planning professionals. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the planning process, from initial site appraisals through to planning applications, appeals and offering strategic planning advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing planning applications and supporting statutory planning documentation.
  • Carrying out site appraisals, feasibility reviews and planning due diligence.
  • Undertaking site specific planning policy and development plan reviews.
  • Preparing various planning reports and statutory planning notices.
  • Assisting with planning appeals, forward planning and other statutory submissions.
  • Liaising with clients, architects, engineers and other consultants.
  • Attending client meetings and local authority meetings.
  • Completing planning validation reviews.
  • Monitoring planning applications and planning decisions.
  • Assisting senior planners on a variety of complex planning projects.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives where appropriate.
Essential Requirements:

Applicants must have:

  • A degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related planning discipline recognised for membership of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI).
  • A minimum of two years’ post-graduation professional planning experience in either the public or private sector.
  • Experience in the preparation of planning applications including planning reports and various statutory planning enclosures.
  • Experience liaising with local authorities and statutory bodies.
  • Ability to co-ordinate planning application lodgement and compilation of all enclosures
  • Knowledge of Irish planning legislation and planning policy including legislative changes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete planning drawing validation reviews.
  • Experience with E-Planning.
  • Strong report writing and analytical abilities.
  • Hold a relevant Accreditation
  • Ability to engage with client in a professional and proactive manner.
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Progressing towards eligibility for membership of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI)/Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
