Planning for All: Delivering Results for Sustainable, Inclusive Places
President's Welcome
On behalf of the Irish Planning Institute, I am pleased to welcome you to this year’s Autumn Planning Conference. The implementation of the Planning and Development Act 2024, alongside a renewed focus on performance, delivery and regeneration, is reshaping how planning operates in practice. At the same time, planners remain at the forefront of a complex and evolving agenda - delivering housing, advancing climate action, enabling infrastructure, and supporting our cities, towns, and rural areas.
Over the course of the day, we will hear about the implementation of planning reform, explore European perspectives on policy and practice, and examine the opportunities and challenges of regeneration in Dublin city centre. The Sustainable Development for All panel session will also provide an important opportunity to reflect on how planning can be more inclusive, accessible and effective in delivering for communities.
As always, the conference is an opportunity to step back from day-to-day practice, to reflect, share experience and engage with colleagues from across the profession and wider sector. It is through these conversations that we strengthen both the planning system and the profession itself.
I would like to thank our speakers for their contributions, and I hope you find the conference both informative and engaging.
