Senior Executive Planner – Declan Brassil & Co.

Declan Brassil & Co., Chartered Planning Consultants, is recruiting a Senior Executive Planner. The successful candidate will provide planning services to a wide range of clients across the country, including developers, housebuilders, public sector, and major corporates.

Key requirements are:

  • an enjoyment of writing, with excellent language skills and communicating planning arguments;
  • a proven ability to multi-task across projects and managing projects capably; and,
  • a willingness and enthusiasm for mentoring and guiding junior planning colleagues.

Typically, the role will involve managing your own workload under the supervision of the Director, monitoring and reviewing plans and guidelines, drafting planning reports and planning applications, the day to day management of applications, assisting with the coordination of project teams and liaising with local authorities and others.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and co-ordinating medium to large scale planning applications.
  • Preparing planning briefing notes.
  • Writing reports, interpreting data and making clear and relevant recommendations.
  • Project Management of planning instructions.
  • Supervision of junior colleagues and the potential for a mentor role.
  • Undertaking research and analysis.
  • Preparing planning appraisals of land, buildings and concepts.
  • Preparing and co-ordinating responses to requests for further information, planning appeals and responses to appeals.
  • Contributing to the preparation and editing of other planning supporting documents.
  • Liaising with planning officers, employees of consultee organisations, and third parties.
  • Managing and prepare submissions on statutory land use plans.
  • Liaising and cultivating good relationships with clients and fellow professionals.
  • Having the potential to deal with instructions and clients (with support).

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Existing Executive or Senior Executive Planner.
  • 5+ years’ post-graduate experience in planning
  • Chartered planner (RTPI or IPI) or working towards membership.
  • Detailed knowledge of the planning and governmental systems in Ireland.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Clients’ objectives and the overall strategy needed to attain these objectives.
  • Understands own and others’ communication and management style and preference.
